What is this Phrenopolis thing?

[Gr. phreno, mind + polis, city]

The happy gentleman pictured here is Dave Grossman, a habitual perpetrator of interactive entertainments. He is best known for writing and designing such LucasArts computer game classics as The Secret of Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle, and in his more recent role as director of design and writing at Telltale Games (Sam & Max, Tales of Monkey Island, The Wolf Among Us, etc). He's also written a number of children's games, including the popular Pajama Sam series, and is currently making voice-controlled audio experiences at Earplay.

Phrenopolis is the place where Dave goes to create other kinds of fun. There's some writing, various kinds of "art," pumpkin carving, a location-agnostic scheme for telling time, an unusual look at the solar system, and other surprises. The Maximegalomporium, at which you can buy an actual physical book, is possibly the only store on the internet which is designed to mimic an old-school text adventure.

Future developments that have been authorized by Phrenopolitan city planners include games, citizenship, and other cool stuff, so be sure to visit every now and then to see what's new.

While you're here, take a little time to explore the back alleys. Subscribe to the Poem of the Week if you like; maybe buy some souvenirs, or a book. Admire the pumpkins, and take a bit of a vacation from wherever your head and your feet normally reside.
