POTW #832
(Week of 10 March, 2013)

Those of you who follow me on Twitter will already have seen a photo of the Darth Vader boot I'm wearing for the next six weeks while the bone in my foot puts itself back together (which, by the way, is a kind of amazing thing for bones to be able to do, isn't it?). Here's a brief bit of verse to go along with it, touching on matters of lasting psychological impact.

(What? No mention of Daylight Saving? Dave? You know what day today is, right?)

OK, yes, but since everyone here has already heard me grumble about it dozens of times, I'll just take the opportunity to encourage people to switch to International Color Time, and mention that there are some new Time Activism products in the Phrenopolis CafePress store ( www.cafepress.com/phrenopolisstore ), and leave it at that. On with the show:

Twigs

One thinks of bone as shapely stone
As bedrock-sure stability
We dance our jigs on flimsy twigs
Bewildering fragility
Alleged protection for juicy collections
Of blobs of tender gelatin
What hope have we to live confidently
When we can't even trust our skeletons?

Check out "Ode to the Stuff in the Sink," Dave's illustrated book of "guy" verse (concerning the deeper philosophies of things like not doing the laundry, putting your feet on the furniture, and of course beer) at the Maximegalomporium (our store). And did I mention it was illustrated? Pictures!
