The POTW: Verse Til It Hurts

POTW #772
(Week of 31 July, 2011)

Verse on adversity.

Hedwig's Headwind

Hedwig Earwig ventured forth
Expectation filled her mouth
Eden rumored to the north
Alas, the wind was headed south
And headed south with irksome zeal
What steps the tiny earwig made
Were unforgivingly repealed
By forceful flustery blockade
Tiny hopeful legs achurning
Tiny hopeful heart ayearning
Overbearing gale aspurning
Tiny consciousness discerning
Tiny brain alearning and alearning
Alearning, finally aturning
Hedwig pivoted about
If this is how it is, she said
Then I shall sing a song of south
And make that be what lies ahead
The zephyr now behind her tail
Agreed and lifted helpfully
Southward through the air she sailed
A flight of graceful harmony
Until, that is, she met the bard
On bicycle and northward bound
His glasses were so very hard
She splattered with a crunchy sound
And if there is a message here
Some meaning to be found within
It is capricious and unclear
But that is the nature of the wind

With our high-tech automated system, all you have to do is send an email to from the mail account where you want to receive it, and we'll put you on the list. You will receive a confirmation by email, although it may take a while as the automated subscription process is quite complex and arcane.
