POTW #825

Happy 2013! I hope you made some excellent New Year's resolutions, and also that you aren't placing too much importance on them actually succeeding.

Hope Springs Internal

I splurged and bought the terriers
All twelve - the more the merrier
Though my studio apartment
Doesn't even fit the fleas
I've always dreamed of dogs
I also plan to quit my job
And support us with a blog
It's called A Dozen Dogs Agree

And wouldn't it be nice
To have a sculpture made of ice
Just above the working fireplace
A permanent addition
And wouldn't it be grand
To throw a rock to Mars by hand
Strength and gravity be damned
I don't need their dull permission

A new phoenix has arisen
With a purposeful decision
I am acting on my vision
What I want my life to be
So much hope and good intention
That I hesitate to mention
The impending intervention
Of the context that is me

Everything seems hunky dory
Shiny cups of perfect glory
At the outset of the story
When we take the cash advance
The predicament with change
Is that it has to be maintained
Versus forces long ingrained
Laws of physics or of circumstance

Bulky Habit is autistic
Complication voyeuristic
Cool Logistics atheistic
When Change stops by to visit
And Hope is optimistic
Oftentimes unrealistic
Possibly even masochistic
-but that's hardly the point, now is it?
